The Moomins are characters in a cartoon series developed by Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, and they've become quite popular here in Japan. A special exhibition is traveling around Japan and will reach the Nagoya City Museum from September 11th until November 14th 2021. The event showcases over 280 drawings and sketches of this much-loved troll family, many of which haven't been exhibited in Japan before.

As yet, the pricing for this special exhibition has not yet been determined - updates will be posted on the official website closer to the event's commencement.

After the Nagoya event, the exhibition will move onto the Sogo Museum of Art in Kanagawa.

Getting there

The Nagoya City Museum is located a five minute walk from Sakurayama Station's Exit 4, served by the Nagoya Subway's Sakuradori Line. Alternatively, head to Sakae Station (Higashiyama Subway Line), and take the Nagoya Municipal Bus "Sakae 26". There is a dedicated stop for the museum, and the ride takes around 30 minutes from the station itself.

For those who plan to drive to the museum, paid on-site parking is available.
