Want to travel around the Tokyo and Kanto Area quickly and economically? JR East will make that easier from December 19th of this year! The Kanto Area Pass, a great deal in and of itself granting holders (foreign passport holders only) 3 consecutive days of unlimited rail travel on all JR East and many private railway services in its fare zone for ¥8,300, is being expanded into the Tokyo Wide Pass.

From the 19th of December, the already extensive area covered by the Kanto Area Pass is being expanded to include the Joetsu Shinkansen services to Echigo-Yuzawa and GALA-Yuzawa Stations and Joetsu Line local services to Echigo Yuzawa Station in Niigata. Just in time for ski season! The Rinkai Line in central Tokyo is also covered in the expansion. The price of the new pass rises to ¥10,000, but with the sheer number of services covered, the savings on a well planned trip could add up to greater opportunities for fun on your outing. Sales of the Tokyo Wide Pass will begin on November 19th. Happy travels!
