A special exhibition at the Gifu Prefectural Museum of Art running until March 13th explores how Japanese Western-style painting has evolved from the Meiji Period until the present.

There will be works on display from Japanese artists renowned for their Western-style art including Seiki Kuroda, Shōtarō Koyama, and Tadashi Asai, plus pieces from notable Western artists such as Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Adult admission to the event is priced at ¥ 1000.

Getting there

The Gifu Prefectural Museum of Art is located around 15 minutes on foot from the JR Nishi-Gifu Station on the Tokaido Line. Alternatively, take the Gifu Bus (220 yen) from the JR Gifu Station - there is a dedicated stop for the museum and the ride time is approximately 10-15 minutes.

For those who plan to drive, the museum is around 10km from the Meishin Expressway's Gifu-Hashima IC. Free parking is available on-site and can accommodate several hundred vehicles.
