Cherry blossoms, roses, wisteria, and hydrangeas…lookout! There are 140,000 lovely irises of 412 varieties that flourish not too far from Yokosuka Naval Base. During the month of June, Yokosuka Shobu-en Iris Garden transforms into a magical space of vivid purple, white, yellow, and pink delicate blossoms just waiting to be discovered. And just when you think you’ve photographed the entire garden, another path is revealed. A mirror image of beautiful irises awaits visitors just on the other side of the hill. Take a break underneath the bamboo trellis of wisteria vines. Or visit the souvenir shop for soft cream or a light lunch. There’s so much to admire here at Shobu-en!
