Nagaya Tenmangu Shrine

A peaceful shrine in the suburbs of Yokohama

A thoroughly residential area in the suburbs of Yokohama, Kaminagaya doesn't boast many sights; really, there's just a Buddhist temple and this neighbouring shinto shrine. Set on a forested hill close to the subway station, Nagaya Tenmangu is an interesting place to poke around: there's an imposing bull statue near the gate, intricately detailed wooden carvings on the main hall and some of the side shrines, and if you climb to the top of the hill there's a little sub-shrine and a view (through a wire fence) out over the area.
