Osaka is known for being a city obsessed with food, to the point that it is often referred to as 天下の台所 (tenka no daidokoro), which means "the nation's kitchen". The expression 食い倒れ (kuidaore), that literally means "to eat until you collapse", also used to be associated with the city. On the famous street Dotonbori, there is a building called Nakaza Kuidaore, home to the Boyoyon Sweets Garden. Since it is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, it couldn't have been in a better place!

Boyoyon Sweets Garden opened in 2012. It is owned by Katsumi and Sayuri, a famous couple of comedians who belong to the talent agency Yoshimoto that is based in Osaka. After having run a ramen restaurant that is now closed, it is the second time they have opened a restaurant. The design was conceived by wife, Sayuri, who is known for loving cute things, pastel colors and sweets. Flowers and pink are the main elements and give a nice atmosphere to the restaurant that is decorated in a very tasteful way.

The normal price for an adult is ¥1480, but if you take a few minutes to register as a member, you can get a ¥280 yen discount. Special prices are available for students and children. Also don't forget to check the official website before coming: discount coupons are often available. Once you have paid, you have two hours to eat as much as you want!

Since it is called Sweets Garden, the restaurant's pride is their impressive variety of cakes and desserts. The menu changes every month, and special time-limited events are often organized. During summer for example, it is possible to create your own original parfait. If you want to take a little break from eating sweets, savory dishes such as Japanese noodles, pasta or pizza are available.

Soft drinks and hot drinks are included within the price - all-you-can-drink, of course! An extra ¥300 will give you access to the bar corner where you can create original cocktails that you can take the time to enjoy while sitting on the outside terrace.

What I liked the most about Boyoyon Sweets Garden is the overall lively atmosphere. The waitresses are very nice and if they aren't too busy, they will even agree to take a picture with you beside a life-size panel of the owners. Katsumi and Sayuri themselves also regularly come to the restaurant so if you are very lucky, you may meet them in person!
