An impressive statue of Buddha carved into stone

Mount Nokogiri is home to the large Nihon-ji temple complex and it's particularly famous for Japan's second largest statue of Buddha. Standing in front of the 31m (about 100ft) tall stone sculpture makes you feel tiny. For comparison, the daibutsu in Kamakura is 13m high. It's a spectacular day trip from Tokyo, and a relaxing one, if you use the cable car that takes you to the top of the mountain in no time!
