Alishan Food Carnival

Taiwanese Food Trip

Jun 1
Venue: Alishan When: Monday - Jun 1st 2020 ,  10:30am - 4:00pm

Now on its 13th year, the Alishan Food Carnival continues to be an event where visitors can try out organic vegetarian and vegan dishes not normally served at the cafe and learn how to use Alishan ingredients to make healthier meals at home. This year's theme is "Taiwan". All dishes concocted by Alishan staff will have connections to Taiwanese cuisine and culture and many of them will use Alishan's line of Taiwanese sauces and marinated vegetarian 'meats.'

If you want to learn how to bake vegan cookies, join the class at 11:00. Open to only 20 participants, the class fee is ¥500. Participants are asked to bring their own aprons.

Like in previous years, Alishan hosts a blue sky market where you can buy seasonal fresh vegetables from local farmers, artisan breads from bakers who use natural yeast, and unique items made by local craft artists.

Enjoy 15% discount on all Alishan products.

The event will push through rain or shine.

Getting there

Alishan Organic Center is a 10 minute downhill walk from Koma Station along the Seibu Chichibu Line. Parking spaces will be limited and coming by train is recommended.

For Sherilyn Siy, Asia is home. Born in Hong Kong, Sherilyn spent time in the Philippines, China, and now lives in Japan. She speaks English, Filipino, Chinese (or putonghua), and Hokkien, her family's local dialect. Running is one of her favorite ways to explore Japan. She proudly finished the 2015 Tokyo Marathon -- her first ever full marathon -- in 4 hours and 37 minutes. She was absolutely psyched when she got selected again to run the new Tokyo Marathon route in 2018. She hopes to complete other races in Japan.
