Everyone reads a book in Japan. It is almost a national hobby, rivaled only by smartphones. But for us to understand why Japanese are so into their books, we have to understand their culture. In Japan, asking questions isn’t a good thing. It is better if you come equip with the knowledge that you learned yourself. Thus, a plethora of self-help books align the shelves of almost every bookstore, especially Book1st in Kita Senju.

This includes domestic books on how to cook, books on how to get into your university of choice and even books on how to get a job. Sounds normal right? Not! Japanese bring it to the extreme. They go right down to every little tiny bit of information. Here´s a little guide of what kind of books are out there and what they are about. So at the end of it, you will understand from books an aspect of Japanese Culture.
