Convenience is key to a life in the City. Time is of the essence and every second counts.

Given the amount of things I had to do, its not surprising that I find myself in the situation whereby I forgot about lunch. With a little rumble, my tummy told me that it needs food.

Thus, I duly obliged and ventured out of my apartment in Comfort Kamata 260 (a shared house in the area of Zoshikii, along the Keikyu line and within minutes from Haneda Airport) to the nearby Zoshikii arcade.

Rows and rows of shops selling delicacies such as tempura and sushi line the arcade, together with a Lotteria and KFC. Nonetheless, I only had a 1000 yen note with me and this eliminated a few choices off my list of possibilities.

That is, until I stumbled upon Wakana located about 2 minutes away from Zoshikii station. Its basically a takeout store but with affordability as its main strategy in drawing in the crowds.

Scattered around the store in an orderly fashion are towers of bento boxes stuffed with a selection of different food. This range from rice with vegetables, chicken, beef and even hamburger steaks.

Across the center counter towards the wall lies all sorts of cold dishes like coleslaw and other salads. There are also small snacks for those with a small appetite.

Along the side of the store, I noticed an inviting broth of stew stocked full of tofu and meat. If it was a cold day, this would be the first thing I'll have. However, given that its summer and temperatures hovers around 26 degree Celsius. I opted for a small bento and as I was walking to get my cold sides.

Right next to me were rolls of onigiri (rice balls), priced at 80 Yen each. Now that's definitely cheap! I took one and told myself I'll keep it for later to satisfy the hunger pangs of near future me (myself in the next 3 hours).

Done with choosing my Bento of choice, I headed to the counter. But stationed below the counter lays the most important convenient food ever invented, the cup noodle. Thus, once again, under the guidance of near future me, I hastily pick one off the shelf and set off back to Comfort Kamata 260 to continue on my work.

Food in hand while doing my work, a busy city life.
