It’s hard to imagine that folks from countries like America, Australia or New Zealand would be interested in going to see a farm, but of those that have been to this interesting attraction, all have enjoyed themselves immensely. For some it provides a touch of home in the very foreign atmosphere of Japan. Aichi Bokujo provides a first hand farm life experience in Nisshin, just outside of Aichi Prefecture’s capital, Nagoya. The popular petting zoo and commercial farm is filled with friendly animals, enjoyable experiences and old fashioned good time fun attractions.
Entry to the farm is free, and tickets to the various attractions can be purchased from ticket vending machines around the park. Some of the experiences require reservations, or are offered on a first come first served basis. Visitors can feed the animals, including horses, ponies, cows sheep, pigs and goats. Feed bags can be purchased for 100 Yen. For 400 Yen you can try your hand at milking a cow every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 1:30 and 2pm. Follow that up with a tour of the milking machines and an interesting milk packing tour, explaining how milk is collected, treated, processed and packed for consumption.
Try a sausage making course, or make your own ice-cream or even butter. It always tastes better if you’ve made it yourself! You can even learn to ride a horse or a pony under the instruction and care of professionally qualified staff. Take a tractor tour around the farm
Get in early and you can Rent A Rabbit! Leash included! Popular with the children, the first eight visitors every weekend can care for a rabbit for the day and take it for walks around the farm for just 400 Yen.
Reserve a BBQ space in advance and bring your own ingredients to cook up with friends and family, or purchase all you need from the Aichi Bokujo BBQ reception desk. There’s an 18 hole Mini Golf Course for all to enjoy too! The Aiboku Restaurant offers a wide selection of meals, many made with produce from the farm and local region. The putting course is open every day except Tuesdays from 9am to 4:30pm. A round is 1000 Yen on weekdays, 1500 Yen on weekends and holidays, putter and ball included.
Aichi Bokujo farm is a great way to get the kids out in the fresh air of Aichi Prefecture for the day, and the lure of the venues’ famous hand made ice-cream in chocolate, strawberry, milk, and even cream cheese flavors will have them begging to go again!
