Notice

Nagoya Castle's main tower keep is planned to be demolished and reconstructed in wood, but the project is not expected to be completed until 2032. Nonetheless, visitors can no longer enter the current structure given concerns regarding its earthquake resistance.

Latest on Nagoya Castle

Nagoya Castle is one of Aichi Prefecture's top sakura spots, and the grounds are home to around 900 cherry trees comprising of 10 types, primarily Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry trees.

The annual Nagoya Castle Cherry Blossom Festival encourages visitors to make the most out of the blooming season, and as well as appreciating the blossoms by day, the event also includes after-dark illuminations of the trees.

There is an admission fee of 500 yen for adults and 100 yen for seniors, but admission is free for junior high school students and younger.

Getting there

Nagoya Castle can be accessed in under 5 minutes on foot from Nagoyajo Castle, which is served by the Meijo Subway Line.

For those who opt to drive, the castle is around 5 minutes from the Marunouchi IC on the Nagoya Expressway. Paid parking options are available by the Main Gate and the East Gate.
