Hotel Pearl City Akita Kawabata, part of the HMI Hotel Group is just 8 minutes walk from JR Akita Station. To get here on foot, upon exiting JR Akita Station, walk towards the Chuo-Dori Street till you cross the Asahi River waterway near Kawabata. Walk a further two more blocks and then take a turn to the right, there you will the hotel. You can take a taxi which wouldn´t cost more than 750 Yen. If you are driving, the car park has a limited number of spots, which are on a first come first served basis.

Hotel Pearl City Akita Kawabata boast a variety of rooms to which guest could select from and they come in the forms of Single, Deluxe Single, Double, Twin, Deluxe Twin and a Triple Room. Single rooms start from an affordable price of 4500 Yen per night and 5000 Yen and above per night for Double or Twin rooms.

The staff were friendly and hospitable as well and despite their limited proficiency in English, they managed to show me around to the main facilities of the hotel such as the laundry area, the computer area and where the vending machines are located. The hotel mainly caters to business travelers and the parking area was spacious for a city hotel big. There were parking places at the front of the hotel and at the back.

I for one was traveling alone and opted for a Single Room. Its definitely spacious enough for one and had all the amenities that one may need while traveling. For instance, the bathrooms are well stocked with toothbrushes, shavers and more importantly body soap and shampoo. I also like how they have Japanese washlets as this is one of the thing foreigners would like to try when their visiting Japan (Don´t worry, there´s a manual in English on the side on how you can use this).

The nicely carved wooden desk are definitely spacious, even with the TV at your side. There are coin operated laundry machines in the hotel together with vending machines on certain floors to soothe your thirst and save you the hassle of walking to the nearest supermarket. Bicycles are available for hire and are ideal to visit nearby attractions in this compact and cycle-friendly city, including the Akita Citizens Market and the Akarengakan Museum. After a long day, why not try the massage service.

Breakfast consists of Japanese and Intercontinental dishes such as pan seared salmon, salad, sausages and best of all, a choice of orange juice, fresh milk, ocha tea, coffee or English tea.

Hotel Pearl City Akita Kawabata is located within 2 minutes from the famous Kawabata Street, an entertainment district filled with Izakayas, restaurants specializing in Ramen as well as the local specialty, the Hinaya Chicken. There are also specialty coffee shops and bars. Thus, if you are planning a night out with your friend, Hotel Pearl City Akita Kawabata is the hotel for you with convenience, cleanliness and best of all, awesome breakfast.
