Final Fantasy VII Meets the Tokaido Shinkansen

A special collaboration with JR Central

Traveling between Tokyo and Nagoya on the Tokaido Shinkansen in early 2026 is set to come with an unexpected bonus for fans of Final Fantasy VII. A special collaboration with JR Central turns the iconic bullet train route and Nagoya City into the stage for an immersive, story-driven experience featuring Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Sephiroth.

The centerpiece is an original voice drama, available exclusively while riding the Tokaido Shinkansen during the campaign period. Once onboard and traveling at speed, passengers can access the audio drama on their smartphones as Cloud and his friends embark on a new journey. Participation requires free account registration and a smartphone with location services enabled, so travelers should prepare in advance.

Those who complete the voice drama and survey can unlock a Shinkansen ride benefit: a chance to receive a limited-edition acrylic keychain. These can be redeemed at Animate Nagoya, a popular anime and game store located near Nagoya Station. Each design is random and available in limited quantities, adding an element of surprise for collectors.

Additionally, Nagoya itself becomes part of the adventure through a digital stamp rally. By visiting three designated locations around the city, travelers can listen to additional voice content and collect digital stamps. Completing the rally unlocks a special reward: an original postcard featuring secret voice messages from select characters, also redeemable at Animate Nagoya.

Excitingly, the collaboration extends beyond just audio. Digital signage featuring Final Fantasy VII visuals will appear in Tokyo Station and Nagoya Station for a limited time, and exclusive collaboration merchandise will be sold at Animate Nagoya and the Nagoya City Science Museum shop.
