If you happen to be walking the streets of Dotonbori in Osaka from early to mid October, chances are you'll get to see these giant plates of sushi floating down the river beside it!

This is a project called Rolling Sushi, which makes huge sushi figurines and displaying them in the river, seeming to mimic the ubiquitous kaitenzushi  (conveyor belt sushi) in Japan! The pictures that you see here are a test run, with the actual event beginning on October 3rd, as part of the Osaka Canvas Project, where art works and performances will colour Osaka, transforming it into a city with vibrance.

Fittingly enough, the world's first conveyor belt sushi restaurant started in Osaka (also known as the kitchen of Japan) - it only makes sense that the world's first giant floating sushi train can be found in this part of Japan!
