What comes to mind when you think of Iwate Prefecture? The Sanriku Coast (a region on the Pacific Coast that stretches through the prefecture) in the southern part where it is known for their ria shorelines? The stunning Genbikei Gorge where you can enjoy Morioka's wanko soba (buckwheat noodles) or the famous "Flying Dango" which are sticky rice balls on a skewer covered in various sauces? The famous Chuson Temple or Konjiki-do (also known as the Golden Hall) which is a mausoleum of mummified remains? Things like these, which includes nature, food and culture make it a triple threat. Which is why every year tourists flock to this prefecture.

You are in luck, special travel vouchers are on sale for those traveling to this prefecture with endless things to do. It is called "The Great Iwate Travel Voucher" (いい旅・いわて・おもてなし旅行券) and is a part of the national campaign called "Family Discount" (ふるさと割り). This deal allows you to buy a coupon worth ¥6,000 for half price or ¥3,000.

60,000 vouchers went on sale on May 29th, but these have already sold out. However, you will have another chance. On June 30th (Tuesday) another 10,000 will go on sale and on July 30th (Thursday) another 10,000 vouchers are scheduled to go on sale.

These vouchers, which can be purchased at major convenience stores, can be used at participating lodging establishments within Iwate Prefecture. They can be used toward lodging, which includes tax and service charges. The number of establishments is expected to increase on a large scale.

These vouchers are valid from June 1st, 2015 until February 29th, 2016. However, please note that they CANNOT be used during the following dates in 2015: August 1st - 15th, September 19th - 22nd, October 1st - 30th, December 28th to January 3rd (2016). Furthermore, each person can only use up to 3 vouchers for a single night (worth ¥18,000) and up to a total of two consecutive nights (1 night with up to 3 coupons x 2 nights = a maximum of 6 vouchers, totaling in ¥36,000).

Don't miss out on this special opportunity to enjoy Iwate Prefecture!
