The 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo will feature a variety of exclusive collaboration products inspired by the official mascot, Myaku-Myaku—and a number of them showcase the beauty of traditional Japanese artisanship, or kogei. The first wave of products will be released on April 13th, 2025, and will include four meticulously crafted items.
The first item in this exclusive collection is the Nabeshima Ware Myaku-Myaku. Created by the renowned Kosengama kiln in Saga Prefecture, this porcelain piece features hand-painted water patterns that evoke the flow and movement of water. The patterns, such as the "Seigaiha" (wave motif), "Takokarakusa" (swirl), and "Ryo" (fish), were carefully painted stroke by stroke, reflecting the intricate craftsmanship that Nabeshima ware is famous for. It is priced at 550,000 JPY and stands 25 centimeters tall.

Next is the Handmade Washi Myaku-Myaku, which brings together the timeless craft of washi paper with modern 3D technology. Crafted by Riku studio in Ehime Prefecture, this unique creation is made by handcrafting individual pieces of washi paper and combining them through 3D modeling. The result is a soft and delicate figure that changes beautifully depending on the light. It is priced at 77,000 JPY and stands 20 centimeters in height.

For those who appreciate the art of glassmaking, the Glass Myaku-Myaku will be a standout piece. Created by Sugawara Kogei Glass in Chiba Prefecture, this piece is crafted by heating and bending glass without the use of molds. The shape of each Myaku-Myaku is intuitively created by the craftsman, ensuring no two pieces are the same. This piece is priced at 192,500 JPY and stands 15 cm tall.

Rounding out the first wave is the Tin Myaku-Myaku, created by Nosaku in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. Made from soft, flowing tin, this piece showcases the smooth texture of metal and the delicate craftsmanship that turns it into a work of art. It is priced at 49,500 JPY and measures 10 centimeters in height.

A second wave of products, which will include smaller items such as plates, daruma dolls, and dishcloths, will be announced in mid-March. These pieces are designed to fit seamlessly into everyday life while continuing to celebrate the artistic fusion of Myaku-Myaku and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

These exclusive Myaku-Myaku products will be available for purchase inside the Expo site at the official store at the West Gate, starting from 9am on April 13th, 2025. Outside the Expo venue, reservations will open at Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten’s Kintetsu Abeno Harukas store and online shop starting at 10am.
