The Nara Free Excursion Bus Service to Asuka Village has been extended through November! The free shuttle bus, operated by Nara Prefecture, began operating on July 24th after the opening of the new NARA Visitor Center & Inn and took riders to either Asuka Village or the Town of Yoshino. Shorter daylight hours in the autumn season have necessitated the cancellation of the Yoshino service and a change in the departure and return times.

In November the Nara Excursion Bus will depart from the NARA Visitor Center & Inn on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am and return at 4:30pm. The bus is open to the first 27 people to sign up to ride at the NARA Visitor Center by 9:15am. It is the most cost effective way to access and take in the many sites of Asuka Village, Japan’s first permanent capital from the 6th through the 8th centuries.
