Soy sauce is a flavoring that plays a central role in Japanese cuisine. In 2013, traditional Japanese food, 'washoku', was added to UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritages, and now soy sauce is known to many more people around the world.

Enter this exciting competition to be in with a chance to win up to ¥100,000 and help celebrate Japanese food! The 8th Soy Sauce Recipe & Story Contest is back for 2016 and gives budding cooks a chance to flex their culinary skills and washoku know-how.

Either submit an original recipe that uses soy sauce based on a dish of your home country, or based on a Washoku dish from Japan. Remember to include a short essay describing the origin of the recipe and photos of the dish itself!
