A gray-brown bird of prey soaring over a broad river on the Kanto plain of old Edo, children flying kites from the roof tops of their homes before the grand backdrop of Mt. Fuji, and the famous giant tsunami wave threatening boats off of Kanagawa. All these works of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints and many more are on display now at the Nara Prefectural Museum of Art!

From Saturday October 10th through Sunday December 6th, the 250 years of Japan’s Ukiyo-e wood block print art is being celebrated with “The Grand World of Ukiyoe Prints” Exhibition at the Nara Prefectural Museum of Art. It’s a unique opportunity to learn about and take in hundreds of the first Japanese painting style to garner international attentional. Best of all, foreign visitors are admitted for free! Just show your passport or residence card at the reception desk. If you’re a fan of Japanese art or want to learn more about it, there is no better chance than this.
