Fans of the Japanese sword will be delighted to know that the Noda City Museum in Chiba prefecture is hosting a sword exhibition from early April to late May 2019.

Offering free entry, the exhibition features swords and other bladed weapons from throughout Japanese history, from the middle of the Heian period (794-1185) up to the Meiji (1868-1912) period. The collection is courtesy of the Noda City Bijutsu Token Kai, an association established in 1960 dedicated to the preservation of traditional Japanese swords for future generations.

The exhibition is geared towards all manner of Japanese sword enthusiasts, from beginners and amateurs to professionals and collectors. The exhibition includes special sessions for collectors, sessions on polishing and caring for blades, as well as question and answer sessions.

Getting there
