Venue : Imabari Towel Museum When : Nov 3rd - Jan 31st 2024, 5:30pm - 9:00pm

Imabari has woven its way – quite literally – into the fabric of the country's textile heritage, earning renown for its exceptional towels. The city's claim to fame as the "Towel Capital of Japan" is not merely a tagline but a testament to a centuries-old craft that has become an integral part of local identity. The region even has a Towel Museum which showcases the process of making Imabari towels, and during winter it's home to a seasonal illumination event.

The 3D Projection Mapping Illumination will run until the end of January, and includes close to 400,000 lights. A couple of the most impressive spots are the 300 meter long light tunnel and the 16 meter high illuminated Christmas tree. There will also be beautiful projection mapping displays on a screen that spans 9 meters in height and 60 meters in length!

Admission to the event is priced at 800 JPY for adults, 600 JPY for high school aged students, and 400 JPY for elementary-aged students. If you do plan on attending, please note that within the event dates there are some closure days: December 31st (Sunday), January 1st (Monday), 18th (Thursday), and 25th (Thursday).

Getting there

The Imabari Towel Museum is located around 10 minutes driving time from the Toyo Tanbara IC.
