Join us as we visit the Tenza Hotel & Sky Spa, located in Hokkaido, the northernmost prefecture of Japan. This beautiful Central Sapporo hotel was recently completely renovated and follows a design theme of the four seasons of Hokkaido and is famous for its beautiful baths and delicious food selections that focus on sustainable food practices.
Following its renovation, Tenza Hotel has been working with local producers to tackle and raise awareness on food waste and preservation of natural farmland.
Located just 30-minutes away from the hotel, the Toreta Hut Fujii Farm is a famous nature-rich environment where migratory birds such as the heron gather so the land has been kept free of pesticides and harmful substances. All produce grown here is 100% natural and pesticide-free.
Due to imperfections and inconsistencies in size, tons of vegetables are thrown away each year as they are deemed ineligible to go to market. Even so, the veggies here are perfectly safe, edible and taste just as good as the standardized products found in your local stores!
Tenza Hotel works directly with Toreta Hut Fujii Farm to bring these underappreciated vegetables to guests, supporting the local farmers and helping to reduce food waste.
In this tour, our guides will walk you around the hotel areas and introduce the renewed premises before heading to the main subject: the kitchens. Here, you will learn more about the initiatives taken by the Tenza Hotel and the Toreta Fujii Farm, their accomplishments thus far, and of course, taste some of the seasonal products brought directly from the farm to the table!

What is Eat! Meet! Japan?
Eat! Meet! Japan is a project that recognizes and promotes the best Japanese food experiences nationwide. Commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF), the project provides an environment where tourists can enjoy unique Japanese food experiences even after multiple visits to Japan.
Eat! Meet! Japan brings people together through food and provides a window into the culture of the areas represented. These award-winning experiences demonstrate Japanese food as a gateway into topics like history, spirituality, sustainability, local agriculture, and craftsmanship.
