Fukui Castle is one of the most famous and popular places for cherry blossom viewing in Fukui City. Since I moved to Fukui I have visited here several times but it has never been crowded. These photos were taken on a SATURDAY during Sakura season. Take a look. Can you see people in the pictures?! Anyway, I must say that Fukui is one of the best-kept secrets in Japan for cherry blossom lovers. There are other popular places such as Asuwa riverside for sakura viewing in the city. There, you can also enjoy beautiful cherry trees without fighting with crowds. For night-time views of sakura at Fukui Castle please refer to my other photo essay.
