Fukui City History Museum is a must-go place if you are interested in the history of this lovely city. It is a conveniently located 15-minute-walk away from JR Fukui Station, and you can visit the famous Yokokan Villa and Garden, the adjacent park nearby as well. The entrance fee is only 210 yen/adult, and a pair ticket, which allows you to visit both the museum and Yokokan Villa and Garden, is 340 yen. Exhibition ranges from clay pots in Iron Age through Samurai period to modern day Fukui. There is a replica of king's (lords') carriage from the Edo Period in the lobby which you can try and ride on!
