The hotel Somayama (in Fukui's Minami-Echizen district) is the place to stay if you are interested in the Hanahasu Lotus Park. Located right on the edge of a field full of lotus ponds, it is possible to get up at 5 or 6 am, wash your face, brush your teeth, and step out into lotus heaven. But what else does the hotel have to offer? Plenty. The onsen baths (both inside and outside are spacious and relaxing. The food is great, and the entire district is quiet. You are basically out in the middle of nowhere. Pick up available from Nanjo Station on the JR Hokuriku Line.
