Bokka no Sato

Vibrant flower fields and hands-on animal encounters

Located on the Hirugano Plateau in Gifu Prefecture, Bokka no Sato is a family-friendly park that offers a mix of nature, animal encounters, and local food. Sitting at 1,000 meters above sea level, the park is known for its seasonal beauty, with fields of tulips, lavender, and cosmos flowers blooming from spring through autumn. In winter, the landscape shifts as the area becomes covered in snow, offering visitors a chance to enjoy a host of outdoor activities like sledding.

In addition to its flower fields, Bokka no Sato features a variety of animals. Guests can interact with the likes of sheep, alpacas, or rabbits, and even try milking Jersey cows. Pony rides and small animal petting areas are also popular, especially for families visiting with young children in tow.

The park also showcases local flavors. Visitors can enjoy barbecue meals featuring Gifu’s well-known Hida beef, as well as regional dishes such as keichan chicken. The soft serve ice cream made from milk produced on the plateau is a great option for those looking for a sweet treat.

Thanks to its convenient location, Bokka no Sato is easily accessible for day trips from surrounding prefectures. It’s also within an hour’s drive of some major Gifu attractions like Shirakawa-go, Takayama, and Gujo Hachiman, making it a good addition to a broader itinerary in the region.

Please note that admission fees to Bokka no Sato differ depending on the time of year that you visit. More information about pricing can be found on their official website here.
