The Gujo dance festival started over 400 years ago and now it's known as one of the largest summer dance festivals in Japan.
The festival is held for a period of thirty-two nights from mid-July to the beginning of September. During the four days of Obon (an August festival commemorating one's ancestor), locals and tourists, regardless of skills, dance together in a big circle through the night until the morning.
