If you've visited Australia, you're likely already aware of how big the cafe culture is there -- but what you may not know is how it has inspired a variety of Aussie-style cafes across the globe. There are a number of them to enjoy right here in Japan, so if you've been missing your long blacks, flat whites, and avo toast, this list should help to satiate your taste buds.

Good Day Coffee, Okinawa

Good Day Coffee is an Okinawan-based gem that allows you to start your morning off on the right foot nice and early. Opening from 6 am, the store is inspired by Australian cafe culture which you'll feel the minute you step inside. The coffees are made with beans from Marvell Street Coffee Roasters in Byron Bay (a coastal town and popular vacation destination), and along with the coffee there are numerous Aussie-inspired meal options available. The Good Day Breaky is just one of them, and it comes with thick-cut toast, avocado, bacon, a sunny side up egg, and potato salad.

Latte Graphic, various locations in Tokyo and Kanagawa

You know that you're onto a winning formula when you've gone from one store to four, and Latte Graphic have done just that. Their founder was inspired by the family-friendly nature of Australian cafes and the high quality of the coffees and meals served, and has brought this philosophy to Japan for customers to enjoy. The menu at Latte Graphic stores is diverse, with plenty of options suitable for a light breakfast or a hearty lunch -- and there are plenty of clearly labeled options for vegetarians and vegans, too.

Deakin St Coffee Stand, Tokyo

A little bit of a hidden gem - but maybe not hidden for much longer - Deakin St Coffee Stand is constantly praised for their fantastic customer service and top quality caffeine fixes. Using beans from the iconic Allpress Coffee Roasters, the cafe offers flat whites, long blacks, lattes, mochas, and chai to name a few, and dairy milk can be subbed for oat or soy milk for a small additional charge. Depending on the day, there are typically a range of sweet treats available to pair with your drink of choice, such as cookies and muffins.

Manly Cafe and Bar, Fukuoka

You're also in luck if you're craving some Aussie-style fare in Kyushu thanks to Manly Cafe and Bar. The venue endeavors to recreate the laid-back vibe of Manly Beach in northern Sydney, and they have a wide range of eats and drinks to tempt your taste buds with. Fluffy ricotta pancakes, meat pies, and Australian beef steaks are just some of the options on offer, and they've even got Aussie beers like Coopers Pale Ale and Crown Lager on the menu to wash everything down with.

Ocean Road Coffee, Chiba

Named after the scenic Great Ocean Road that stretches from Victoria's Surf Coast hub of Torquay through to Allansford, Chiba's Ocean Road Coffee has gained a reputation for excellent coffee and excellent food. The chef here actually worked at a restaurant in Australia, and there are a host of classic cafe options on the menu including avocado toast and Eggs Benedict. If you pop in on weekends they even serve up a traditional Sunday roast! Sweet toothed visitors don't miss out, either -- be sure to snag a lamington (or a couple!) with your flat white when you visit.
