Japan is blessed with a multitude of incredible spots to enjoy cherry blossom season, and Kyushu is no exception to that rule. This guide covers five of the region's best sakura spots, and they all have the honor of being on Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom sites list!

Yunoko Cherry Line, Kumamoto

After an incredible sakura experience that doesn't even involve you getting out of your car? The Yunoko Cherry Line is a 5 kilometer stretch of coastal road which is packed with around 500 Somei Yoshino cherry trees. There are a couple of parks along the route with small parking lots if you want to stop and simply admire the view for a while, too!

Nishi Park, Fukuoka

Fukuoka's Nishi Park is one of those places that is gorgeous year-round - it's blessed with views out over Fukuoka City, Hakata Bay, and Shika Island. It's even more beautiful during cherry blossom season, when around 1300 trees in several different varieties reach full bloom. The park is also known for its autumn color, so if you're in the area later in the year be sure to stop by.

Ogi Park, Saga

Saga's Ogi Park is home to around 3000 cherry trees, so there's definitely no shortage of sakura-inspired beauty to enjoy. Along with being designated as one of Japan's Top 100 sakura viewing spots, this spot has also been selected as one of the Top 100 Historical Parks in Japan. Come for the nature, stay for the history - or vice versa!

Omura Park, Nagasaki

From around late March through to mid-April, Nagasaki's Omura Park is an absolute delight for the eyes. There are around 2000 cherry trees on the grounds here, from the iconic Somei Yoshino variety through to the later-blooming omaruzakura type. Like Ogi Park in Saga, Omura Park also appears on the list for Japan's Top 100 Historical Parks - just a little added incentive to stop by!

Nago Castle Park, Okinawa

Classified as part of the Kyushu region, Okinawa has plenty of natural beauty to enjoy - and cherry blossoms are just a small part of that. The sakura trees here tend to bloom around the February timeframe, when many other parts of Japan are still covered with snow. At the Nago Castle Park, you can enjoy cherry blossoms intertwined with tropical fauna in a truly magical environment.
