There’s no shortage of ways to spend a day in Osaka. You might head out to Universal Studios Japan (USJ) for thrills, climb up to the Umeda Sky Building for sweeping skyline views, or step back in time with a visit to Osaka Castle. Even a casual walk through neighborhoods like Dotonbori or Shinsekai can lead you to street food stalls, retro arcades, and neon-lit backstreets. The Osaka Amazing Pass helps bring these experiences together, simplifying your travel so you can focus on discovering the city with ease.

Here’s what you need to know before you start your journey with the Osaka Amazing Pass.

The Pass

The pass also acts as a discount card at approximately 50 shops and restaurants, adding extra value beyond transportation and admissions. Over one or two days, these savings can quickly add up, making the Osaka Amazing Pass one of the most practical choices for travelers eager to experience the city to the fullest.

Is the Osaka Amazing Pass discontinued?

The Osaka Amazing Pass has not been discontinued, but it is now available only as a digital QR-code ticket, since the physical card version ended in June 2024.

Do I need it?

Well, is it worth it to get the Osaka Amazing Pass given its price and coverage? The pass is worth it if you plan to visit several attractions in a day while using public transport to move around the city. For example, the One-Day Pass costs ¥3,500, but if you visit Osaka Castle (¥600), take the Umeda Sky Building observation deck (¥1,500), enjoy a Dotonbori river cruise (¥1,200), and use the subway a few times (around ¥800 total), you’ve already covered more than the pass price. Everything beyond that essentially becomes free. This makes the pass especially valuable for active sightseeing days.

Purchase

The Osaka Amazing Pass is only available online. You can purchase it through the official website or third-party travel platforms such as Klook and KKday. Once bought, you’ll receive a QR code that can be activated and used immediately.

Usage

For transportation, simply tap the pass at the subway gates like a regular ticket. Once activated, the pass is valid from 3:00am to 2:59am the following day (for the One-Day Pass) or for two consecutive days (for the Two-Day Pass). For entry into attractions, just present the digital QR code at the entrance. Staff will scan or check the pass, granting free admission or discounts depending on the facility.

It’s important to note that the validity is tied to calendar days, not hours, so starting earlier in the morning will give you the maximum benefit.
