Yokogawa is an interesting town on the outskirts of Hiroshima city. A visit to this classic old-style town at any time of year is interesting. Especially if you are able to go during the Fushigi-ichi neighborhood festival in March, when you can also enjoy seeing local Cosplay- the performance art of wearing elaborate costumes to represent a favorite anime character. Many of these Cosplay performers spend countless hours in preparing the perfect look, and are happy to pose for photographs if you ask first. Whether you know any of the characters they represent or not, it is easy to appreciate their dedication and creativity.
