Hokkaido's Kushiro-Shitsugen

Kushiro is famous for its marshland. It covers 183 square kilometers and is home to the Red Crowned Crane. This crane is known as a symbol of luck, longevity and fidelity.

Close by, there are also three great lakes: Akan, Kussharo and Mashu. Also, the Ainu village near Lake Kussharo is worth seeing. This all can be done in one or two days taking a bus tour from Kushiro city.
