Momo-iwa trail, Rebun Island

Spectacular cliffs and great variety of wild flowers

Rebun Island is part of Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park at the most northern tip of Hokkaido. It is very different from its neighbor Rishiri Island and mostly visited for the great variety of alpine flowers, which usually can be found only at about 2,000m above sea level. I personally was even more impressed by the beautifully rough but green coastline with its stunning cliffs and the rolling hills covered with bamboo grass inland—simply breathtaking.
