Venue : Takikawa Nanohana Fields When : Mid - Late May 2025

The Takikawa Nanohana Festival started back in 2000 and has become the city's largest annual event, with crowds of around 100,000 people reveling in the beauty of these vibrant yellow flowers each year. There are two main types of nanohana cultivated here – the Kizaki no Natane variety which is primarily used to make rapeseed oil, and the Haru no Kagayaki variety which is typically used as a food source.

At the event, a viewing platform is set up over the main nanohana field affording visitors with a fantastic panoramic view, plus there are live stage performances and food stalls selling local products including foods made from nanohana.

Admission to the event is free of charge, but bring some yen if you plan on buying something to eat.

Getting there

The Takikawa Nanohana Festival is located under 10 minutes by taxi (or about 40 minutes on foot) from Ebeotsu Station, which is served by the Hakodate Main Line.
