The Ashiya City Museum of Art was opened back in 1991, and to celebrate its 30th anniversary the museum is hosting a collection exhibition titled "Painting goes on, Towards Today". Approximately 80 works will be on display at the event, along with guided details on specific points to focus on in each piece — but of course, visitors are free to simply enjoy the paintings at face value, too!
Adult admission to the event is priced at 500 yen.
Getting there
The Ashiya City Museum of Art can be accessed by bus from the JR Ashiya Station in around 20 minutes. Hankyu bus numbers 31, 32, 35, 36, and 131 all stop past the museum. You can walk to the museum in around the same timeframe if you'd prefer.
For those who opt to drive, on-site parking is available. It's free for one hour, and then 100 yen for each 30 minute increment thereafter.
