Ibaraki's Kamine Park is a fun place for a family-friendly day out year-round -- the venue is home to a zoo, amusement park rides, pools, and more. It's also a brilliant spot for appreciating the beauty of spring, since the grounds are filled with around 1000 cherry trees. It's so well-loved that it appears on the list of Japan's Top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots, and the only other entrant on the list from Ibaraki is the Shizumine Furusato Park.
Admission to Kamine Park will depend on the activities you want to partake in. The main amusement park area is priced at 450 yen for adults and 200 yen for children, and the zoo is priced at 520 yen for adults and 100 yen for children. The best time to visit to catch the trees in bloom tends to be around early April.
Getting there
Kamine Park is located around 10 minutes by taxi from Hitachi Station on the JR Joban Line. Buses are also available from the station - take the Hitachi Dentetsu Bus until you reach the stop for Kamine Park. The travel time by bus is around the same as by taxi.
For those who opt to drive, the park is a short drive from the Joban Expressway's Hitachi Chuo Interchange.
