Green Hotel is one of few hotels in Odawara that offers quality service for a very reasonable rate. It's central location and proximity to the central railway station attracts many tourists who stop off at Odawara before going to Hakone.

The staff working here are extremely pleasant and helpful. Even though their English might not be great, they will try their best to understand you and express what they are trying to say. They always make a point to greet you, and ask you if you need anything.

During my stay, I had a very comfortable time. The room was tidy, and well equipped with modern amenities like Fridge, LCD TV, etc. Unlike most Japanese hotels that have a reputation for having small rooms, the rooms here are very spacious. The bathroom had no flaws and was well looked after.

Even though this hotel has no restaurant, there are many closely located restaurants that serve authentic Japanese food. And if you are looking for snacks or fast food, there is a Lawson convenience store closeby. There are soda, coffee, cigarette, and beer vending machines inside the hotel in case you want a quick refreshment. You could even use the microwave in the waiting room to heat up precooked meals. And if you are with a large group, Japanese style breakfast can be arranged and delivered.

Interestingly, there is a cute little local station right on the nose of the Hotel. The local train will take you to the main station after one stop, but this isn't required as the hotel is only a 10 minute walk anyway. Talking about trains, you can get a brilliant view of the tracks from your rooms. Also overlooking the mountains, the view is simply stunning. You could see the Shinkansen gliding through the Tokaido line, with the mountains in the background.

This hotel has an edge over other Hotels in Odawara because it is foreigner friendly, and the receptionists can understand and speak English. If you are lucky to meet hotel owner, Mr. Sakurai, he would be glad to give you tourist information and help you scheduling your nearby trips.

The price is attractive, and comparatively low. For 3900 yen you could get a single bedroom, and the doubles are around 7000 yen for a night. There are different configurations and bed sizes. In fact, there are three different single bed sizes! Free Wifi is available at the lobby, and sometimes even at your room. Other facilities include car parking, and luggage drop or early check-in on request.

Overall the hotel has great value for money, and is much cheaper than the hotels situated in Hakone. Only 40 minutes from Hakone, why not try spending a few nights in Odawara and take the time to visit the surrounding area, as well as enjoying day trips to Hakone.
