Kamakura Myohon-ji Temple in Spring

Beautiful pink hues of flowering crabapples

Elegant pink flowers (flowering crabapple) bloom in mid April at Myohon-ji Temple. Although this temple is very close to JR Kamakura Station, it always maintains a tranquil beauty. The temple was established in 1260 at the place where one of the principle samurai in the Kamakura Shogunate had lived. The samurai was defeated in a political battle and killed in 1203. Later, his descendant built this temple to give solace to him.
