Kanagawa’s peaceful retreat

<p>If approaching Lake Sagami from Mount Takao, the very distinctive Benten Bridge will appear before you in a valley directly below</p>

<p>Close to the Lakes Shore is a small forest where I found several cats that have made their home here</p>

<p>As you approach the lake you will see it is formed by a main river that flows into it</p>

<p>Interestingly, as with many other lakes in Japan, Sagamiko is an artificially man-made structure built to provide water and electricity for Sagamihara City and beyond</p>

<p>Despite being an artificially created phenomena, Lake Sagami is popular for hosting many water sports and activities</p>

<p>As dusk approaches, the lake provides a peaceful end to the day</p>

<p>Several minutes walk away from the lake is Sagamiko Station. Situated on the JR Chuo Line, it’s about an hour’s ride back into central Tokyo</p>

Located within Kanagawa’s Sagamihara City, Lake Sagami provides an easy escape away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Although originally built as a reservoir, this pretty lake has become a popular recreation spot where you can engage in a wide variety of water sports or simply chill-out along its peaceful shores.

With its relaxing atmosphere, this is a good place to visit anytime of the year and is a great location for hiking in the valleys above, where you`ll be able get a clear bird`s eye view of the lake
