Moss covers the ground and some Japanese maples add to the green, just waiting to turn into vibrant red in mid-October: Renjo-in is a small but very neat temple with a beautiful garden. There are some stone lanterns and a stone pagoda, as well as a big metal bell, that round out the picture. The temple itself has beautiful wooden carvings on the beams around the entrance, as well as golden decorations framing the supporting beams or covering their tips. While you are in that area, you should also visit Hosen-ji, which is only eight minutes on foot from Renjo-in.

You have access to Renjo-in from Hashimoto Station (JR Yokohama Line); it's located northeast of the station.
