Golf can be said to be an internationally enjoyed sport that men and women of all ages can enjoy. It is invigorating to swing a club at the ball as hard as you can over the green, under the open blue sky.

I started playing golf to be social, and as something I can continue to enjoy as a hobby after retirement. I went to the driving range with my friend and as we referred to a book, started swinging with 7 different irons... and missed more often than we would like to admit. The ball flew diagonally, barely crossing any distance at all.

After that day, I continued to go to the driving range, but without knowing where or how I should fix whatever was holding me back. I was definitely feeling the limitations of self-study.

That's when I decided to try taking a trial lesson at Bridgestone Plaza Takuma. You can take two lessons for the great deal of 2,100 yen per lesson for 1 hour, and then decide if continuing lessons is suitable for you.

Since I was a beginner, the coach taught me the proper way to hold a club, proper form, and how to hit the ball. I didn't realize that my posture collapses just as I am about to hit the ball until it was pointed out, with ways to fix the issue. My coach offered great encouragement, always patient when I repeated my mistakes and quick to praise me with smiles whenever I had a good swing. After the lesson, I was also given a diagnostic sheet with the coach's comments and encouragement from the lesson.

The coach's next students were a group of student regulars. The coach advised all 5 or 6 students, giving them individual advice along the way. Each student had their own lesson book in which the coach would write comments on their progress and what they did well, in addition to what they covered in the lesson. With detailed advice for each student, it is no doubt the couch motivates his students and spurs their progress.

Bridgestone Plaza Takuma is next to Yume Town (a shopping mall) off the east bypass. For more detailed information, check out their website (only available in Japanese) or give them a call.
