Taiwanese cuisine includes some delicious and well-known dishes, from beef noodle soup to xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and plenty more. The Kumamoto Taiwan Festival is a three-day event which brings a variety of these flavorsome dishes to the city's Hanabata Hiroba (Flower Garden Square) for attendees to try.
Along with the variety of eats to sample, there will be Taiwan Beer on tap – and apparently, this is the only place outside of Taiwan where you can try it.
If you do plan to stop by, please note that the festival hours differ each day:
- Friday, September 29th 16:00 until 21:00
- Saturday, September 30th 11:00 until 21:00
- Sunday, October 1st 11:00 until 19:00
There is no admission fee to enjoy the atmosphere of the event, but bring yen if you plan on doing some food and drink sampling.
Getting there
Hanabata Hiroba can be accessed in under 5 minutes on foot from the Hanabatacho tram stop.
