From Hotel Nikko Kumamoto downtown, I took the streetcar to Suizenji-koen for one of Kumamoto's finest attractions, Suizenji Garden. Covering 73,000 square meters, the garden is larger than a baseball stadium. Included in the landscape is a large pond with koi (carp) and turtles. It’s not a rare sight to see a turtle resting on top of a rock in the pond. There’s also a path you can take to walk around the park. I recommend having your camera in hand because there are many great photo chances available.
