<p>The torii (gate) path is open all night long, but it is unusual for people to climb up at night, especially when it is raining...</p>

<p>There are shrines along the way that can look kind of creepy at night.</p>

<p>The climb to the top will take about 2 hours.</p>

<p>In any case the path is generally well-lit.</p>

<p>This is a resting spot with a good view of Kyoto City, and that's also the point where most people would go back down.</p>

<p>If you continue, the path will split into two. There are a few food stalls, but they closed at 4.30pm.</p>

<p>We eventually reached the top of the hill.</p>

<p>Certain parts have more lamps than others, therefore the picture changes all the time.</p>

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of Inari (the god of rice) in Kyoto. It is located right next to JR Inari Station, so it is very easily accessible. The climb to the top will take nearly 2 hours and people usually climb up during the day as it can get a bit spooky at night. If you want to take photos without people, climb further up, as people usually give up after climbing just a few stairs or when they reach the popular resting stop with views over Kyoto.
