There are two parallel shopping streets which extend from Shijo Street up to Sanjo-dori Street namely the Teramachi and Shinkyogoku Shopping Streets.

These streets in Kyoto are packed with numerous shops and restaurants that sell almost every kind of goods. From high end fashion labels to traditional crafts and food of Kyoto, it offers a mixture in shopping where modern meets traditional. Being located in downtown Kyoto, these streets are famous shopping meccas that draw a younger crowd as well as travelers.

Nishiki Market, or also famously known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen” is also in this area.
