The Sendai Uminomori Aquarium's Sake Aquarium night has been running annually since 2017, and it was originally designed to help revitalize the area after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. The event provides a way to showcase products from Miyagi's sake breweries in a unique setting, with representation from Kesennuma, Ishinomaki, Shiogama, and Yuriage cities.
The adults-only event (20 years and over) is priced at ¥ 3600 per head, which includes an event exclusive glass and two tasting tickets. Securing your spot can be organized online via the official ticketing website.
The Sendai Uminomori Aquarium can be accessed in around 15 minutes on foot from Nakanosakae Station, which is served by the JR Senseki Line. Free shuttle services also run from the station to the venue.
For those who opt to drive, the aquarium is immediately by the exit of the Sendai Port Interchange on the Sendai Tobu Road. On-site parking is available for up to 800 vehicles.
