Lake Shirakaba is a man-made lake north of Chino City in Nagano Prefecture. During the summer, visitors can cruise around the lake in rowboats, swan boats, or kayaks. It's a great way to get a different perspective of the surrounding mountains and wildlife.
The boat rentals are very reasonably priced, and the boat rental owners are very kind and helpful. The only downside is that they close rather early (around 4 pm) and are quite popular! If you want to be able to choose your boat, you should start as early as possible.
