There's something special about events held under the stars. The vastness of the universe and the twinkling constellations provide a sense of wonder and tranquility, and a special event in Nagano held each summer since 1981 showcases a variety of films beneath the sparkling night sky.

The Starry Sky Film Festival has become one of the prefecture's most-loved summer traditions, and it's held in the beautiful surroundings of the Yatsugatake Nature and Culture Park. A screen measuring 11 meters wide and 5 meters high will be set up on the outdoor stage, and the venue is encircled by trees – on clear evenings whilst enjoying the lineup of films, attendees can also look up and appreciate the spectacular night view.

Getting there

Yatsugatake Nature and Culture Park is located 8.5 kilometers (approximately 15 minutes driving time) from Suwa Minami IC, or 15 kilometers (approximately 20 minutes driving time) from Kobuchizawa IC, which are both on the Chuo Expressway.

For those visiting via public transport, the venue is 15 minutes by taxi from Fujimi Station on the JR Chuo Main Line.
