Aosagaura Church is one of 29 churches on Kamigoto Islands. It was originally built in 1878, and was renovated into a brick church by a Japanese architect in 1910.

This is the first authentic brick church designed and built by a Japanese architect with a layered roof, well-balanced structure and refined design. It's one of the Churches and Christian Sites in Nagasaki, which are now on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. It was also designated an important national asset in 2001.
